Born and raised in Cooke County, I spent my childhood growing up on our family’s dairy farm. Being the daughter and granddaughter of farmers taught me the value of hard work and the importance of discipline. After high school, I attended Texas A&M University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I then went on to obtain my Doctor of Jurisprudence at the Texas Tech University Law School.
During law school, I had one goal upon graduation – working as a criminal prosecutor. At Texas Tech, I was a member of the prestigious Board of Barristers, which helped me to foster my love of prosecution and trial work. I worked as an intern at both the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and the Cooke County District Attorney’s Office. Upon graduating from law school, I went right to work as a criminal prosecutor at the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office. Throughout my career, I continued my work in criminal prosecution with positions as a prosecutor in the District Attorney’s Offices of Ellis County, Denton County, and Tarrant County. After leaving the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, I opened a successful law firm in Fort Worth, where my partners and I represented citizens accused of crimes and victims in their quest for justice for almost a decade. The experience of having practiced in multiple counties throughout north Texas has given me the experience and knowledge as to what makes a Courtroom efficient and effective.
Upon returning to Cooke County, I once again entered the field of prosecution by accepting a position as the Cooke County First Assistant County Attorney. Throughout my career, I have tried over 100 trials including all levels of criminal offenses – Capital Murder, Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, Indecency with a Child, Stalking, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Robbery, Intoxication Manslaughter, Family Violence, Theft, and Driving While Intoxicated. I have always worked to seek justice with every prosecution, holding people accountable when necessary while also giving victims a voice.
My husband Aaron works as a Senior Vice-President for First Horizon Bank. We have two children – a son, Beckett and a daughter, Bellamy. After spending many years in Fort Worth, Aaron and I knew we wanted to return to Cooke County to raise our children near family and in the same supportive and wonderful community where I was raised.
Aaron and I wanted our kids to know the same values of determination and perseverance that we were raised with. We have loved being back in Cooke County and becoming involved in our community. We are members of Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, and I serve as a Trustee on the Muenster Independent School District School Board.
